Lincoln University is proud to announce the generous donation of a distinguished portrait of President Abraham Lincoln, created by local artist, Bill Ewing, with a custom-made frame by his wife, Mary Ewing, for whom the University was named. As the nation’s first degree-granting Historically Black College and University (HBCU), this gift holds profound meaning, reflecting both our rich history and enduring commitment to excellence.
The portrait will be prominently displayed in Vale Hall, serving as a lasting tribute to President Lincoln’s vision and the University’s legacy of leadership and achievement.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the donors, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph and Patricia Rothman, for this remarkable contribution, which will inspire generations of students, alumni, and visitors. When asked about the gift, Joseph stated that "we are grateful for the wonderful experience we had at the university and glad that the portrait of Lincoln is finally home."
Thank you to the donor for preserving history and inspiring our Lincoln family with this extraordinary gift!
